Molahiette State Competition 3.25.17
These dance photos started out by bringing a camera to Aislynn's TG performances. Watching her dance has been something our family has always enjoyed. Of course, she danced with many other talented girls, and continues to.
Then, after making the drill team in 2016 we started to watch a whole different kind of dance performances. I honestly remembered this from when I was a student at MLHS (more than 20 years ago). The intensity, drive and energy on the floor was an experience that not every team could express, but MLHS does. No, it DOES.
Molahiette images began after Aislynn's tryouts at their first halftime performance last fall. I've counted 28 live performed routines pushed through my cameras, and that's not all their performances. Each and every time they have become stronger, tougher, and charged the court and the audience with their energy.
Yesterday was the first time that my title as a photographer didn't grant me court access, but with so many performance images to look back on, it is more than okay. I was able to witness and catalog many backstage moments of these girls and coaches all preparing, celebrating, and expressing the stress, anticipation, and comradery of true team spirit, many of which were unique - as are the girls.
The access that Lori granted me did allow that. And thank you, Lori.
It seems best to open this photo album with the final team shot. For what it's worth, in all 28 routines I've photographed this performance was the most fierce and determined I've ever seen. That's what earned them their three 1st place WA state finishes and a National pom title.
Molahiettes - thank you for letting me tag along this year. And congratulations!!!

relief
Injuries made this season difficult for the team. Immediately after the opening performance this dancer is seen prone in a quiet hallway adjacent to the rest of her celebrating team, getting relief from the hands of one of her coaches.
